“Some of the best tacos in NYC”
The review
Los Tacos No. 1 was easily one of the best things we ate in New York. We tried the pollo asado, carne asada and adobada tacos, as well as a carne asada quesadilla, and there genuinely wasn’t a bad choice among them.
The tacos are simple, which is exactly why they work. Fresh tortillas, properly seasoned meat and toppings that add to it rather than burying everything underneath a load of unnecessary stuff. The carne asada and adobada were particular standouts, but I’d happily order the whole lot again.
What got me most was just how good the Mexican food was in NYC generally, It’s no surprise that Los Tacos No. 1 now has several locations across the city.
It’s not somewhere you’re going for a long sit-down meal or fancy service. You turn up, order tacos, eat them and immediately start thinking about whether you’ve got room for another one.
At around £4.50 a taco, it’s not exactly dirt cheap once you start ordering a few, but for the quality I’d have absolutely no issue paying it again.
